About the Angelus

The Angelus is a Catholic devotion commemorating the Incarnation. It is traditionally recited three times daily: at 6 AM, noon, and 6 PM. The devotion consists of three biblical verses describing the mystery of the Incarnation, each followed by a Hail Mary, and concluding with a prayer.

The practice originated in medieval times and was encouraged by various popes. The ringing of the Angelus bell serves as a call to prayer and a reminder of God's love made manifest in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ.
